Tim Flapper is a senior developer @ Springest - Docker at Springest, a showcase

How can you make optimal use of Elastic Beanstalk to run a monolithic Ruby on Rails application? That was the question we needed to answer at Springest.

In this talk i'll walk you through a couple of issues we had when first trying out Elastic Beanstalk, our eventual Docker setup and the challenges making our deploy cycle as fast as possible.

Bio: Tim Flapper is a senior developer at Springest. When Springest decided to move to a Docker setup, Tim was responsible for setting it up using Elastic Beanstalk on AWS.

Alessandro Vozza - Openshift: Containers for the rest of us

Introducing Openshift, the open source platform-as-a-service to run containers at web scale in production. Built on the solid foundations of Docker, Kubernetes, Atomic and Enterprise Linux, it delivers a secure, multi-tenant, enterprise-grade, production-ready framework to run all your containerised workloads (both traditional, mode-1 and mode-2, cloud-ready apps and microservices). It's as easy as pushing to a git repository - Openshift takes care of everything else! If the Seven Gods of Demos are in our favour, we'll give a demonstration as well.

Bio: Alessandro wore many hats and recently took a Red one off; however, he's still passionate about open source, cloud and DevOps and you can find him regularly in the local communities. Meetup founder and Openstack evangelist, he recently fell in love with Docker and Openshift, and he's looking for the best way to combine the best of the both VM's and containers worlds.

Pavel Chunyayev - How containers make achieving CD easier and why they are not enough to create a successful CD process

The talk is going to address the following questions:

  • What is the place for containers in the build and deployment pipelines?

  • What are the benefits of using them?

  • How to prepare the pipelines for the containers for existing projects?

  • How to build a good pipeline for greenfield projects?

Bio: Pavel is a Continuous Delivery Architect at Levi9 IT Services. He's got more than 11 years of experience in IT and has moved a year ago to Amsterdam from Kyiv, Ukraine. With a daily work Pavel helps his clients to create and improve the way they deliver their applications to production. In his free time Pavel rides a bike and learns Dutch.
