6:50 Complete Visibility into Docker Containers with AppDynamics

AppDynamics provides the business and operational insights into Application performance, user experience and business impact of software applications. It provides visibility into applications and business transactions made out of multiple smaller decoupled (micro) services deployed in a Docker environment using the Docker monitoring solution.

The AppDynamics Docker Monitoring Extension (http://community.appdynamics.com/t5/eXchange-Community-AppDynamics/Docker-Monitoring-Extension/idi-p/14749) monitors and reports on various metrics, such as: total number of containers, running containers, images, CPU usage, memory usage, network traffic, etc. The AppDynamics Docker monitoring extension gathers metrics from the Docker Remote API, either using Unix Socket or TCP giving you the choice for data collection protocol. In this talk Anand will provide an overview AppDynamics monitoring solution for Docker and demonstrate the key features of the solution.

Currently Drupal is in the midst of replacing their legacy testing infrastructure with a more modern Docker-based CI system. Come learn the specifics of how Docker containers are helping to drive the velocity of one of the web's largest open source projects.

And it’s hard not to embrace the idea of providing a self-service vehicle for developers, Test/QA engineers, and SRE’s to spin up and down containerized environments. But many organizations have either a desire or need to host and control a container service on-prem. Rancher Labs is going to talk about private container services—how you can build an enterprise-grade, compliant platform that runs and manages containers across any computing platforms. Specifically:

- What a private container service is

- How to build, rollout, and maintain a private container service on-prem

- How software-defined infrastructure services make container networking and storage seamless, whether containers are deployed locally, to private clouds or to the public cloud.

Prior to his current role at CA, Anand was head of product marketing of APM at CA Technologies. Earlier he worked at Oracle and HP in various product marketing, product management, and engineering roles in the systems management, servers, data center energy efficiency, and enterprise software areas. Anand has more than 20 years of experience in product marketing, product management, strategic planning and software development. Anand received his MBA from The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University and a B.S. in Computer Science from Pune University in India.

Prior to Rancher, Darren was Sr. Principal Engineer at Citrix where he worked on CloudStack, OpenStack, Docker and building the next generation of infrastructure orchestration technology. Prior to joining Citrix, Darren worked at GoDaddy, where he designed and lead a team that implemented both public and private IaaS clouds.
