WIFV/Docs In Progress Documentary Roundtable: Filmmaker Support Group

This program, usually held on the second Monday of every month will build on WIFV’s existing Documentary Roundtable speaker series and Docs In Progress’ filmmaker meet-up/support group (formerly known as Documingles). The support group will meet at Docs In Progress in January, March, May, July, September, and November. The speaker series will take place at Interface Media and other locations in Washington http://docsinprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Documingles-Dec-2012-b.jpg DC in February, April, August, October, and December. (Networking events during Silverdocs replace the June meeting).

All Documentary Roundtable meetings are FREE and you do NOT need to be a WIFV member, Docs Insider, or alum of Docs In Progress to participate. This is a great way to get to know others in the DC-area documentary filmmaking community, build your network and know-how, and find out about other offerings of these two organizations.

So What’s Happening This Month?

As an antidote to the documentary filmmaker working in isolation, it’s a brainstorming, networking, and support group all wrapped up in one. This is an opportunity to meet others in the documentary community and share latest successes, challenges, and tips on documentary filmmaking.

SCHEDULE FOR THE EVENING

6:30-7:00 pm: Informal Networking

7:00-8:00 pm: Facilitated Discussion: Roundtable where participants will introduce themselves and talk about what they are currently working on.
8:00-8:30 pm: Feedback Spotlight: One pre-selected member of the group will show a trailer or 10 minute segment from a work-in-progress and seek guidance from others in the group on strategies for next steps with the project. 8:30-9:00 pm: Informal Networking

The Documentary House is the home of Docs In Progress and is located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland at 8700 First Avenue (corner of First and Fenwick). Yes it really is a house! Don't let the tall buildings surrounding us fool you.

We are only a few blocks from the Silver Spring Metro. Some free parking is available in the gravel lot behind our house.
