Intervention vs Non-Interference; what is a Humanistic view

Details
Tonight we explore what we as Humanists feel about the topic of military intervention to help a country, or if the Humanist way is not to interfere with another country’s problems? We will be talking about Syria, Iraq and other recent actions, along with possible future ones yet to be decided.
Do the ends justify the means? Do you indeed need to “crack a few eggs to make an omelette?” Or is human life too valuable to risk even one death to achieve a goal? Come along and hear the cases made, and contribute with questions.
Please register on Meetup, and if you wish to join our panel. Two persons supporting foreign intervention, and two persons supporting non-interference please.

This is a PILOT of a possible new BIG QUESTIONS discussion night, loosely based around the TV programme of the same name. Each month we will take a topical news issue or Humanist subject, and explore it in depth. The night will feature a ‘for’ and ‘against’ panel of fellow members, with audience questions, a short break followed by table discussion, and then a summing up at the end.
The Suncliff room is free for us to use on the provision that everyone buys a few drinks during the night, so please do so to help keep this a free event.
