Come and Join us

This year we are inviting all of our members, supporters, and friends to join us in the Bourne Free march. Great strides have been made in LGBT equality in this country in recent years, culminating in the legalisation of same-sex marriage in 2014. The situation for LGBT people in many other countries, however, remains dire. In Nigeria, for example, the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act criminalises all forms of same-sex unions. The maximum penalty in the Christian south is 14 years imprisonment whilst the maximum penalty in the Muslim north is death by stoning. You may feel uncomfortable joining an LGBT march but the more we turn out in force the easier it will be! Last year there were about ten of us – both gay and straight. This year it would be good to double or triple that number. Let us know if you’re coming and we’ll get you a complimentary Dorset Humanists T-Shirt (for members). We will also have a stall in the Lower Gardens after the parade.
Non-members and guests not wishing to purchase a DH T shirt at £6.50 can come and join us wearing a plain white T shirt.

Our Pride Statement signs we will be carrying.
Come and stand with us
We were strong last year, with ten of us in the Pride walk, but we were not easily seen. Encompassed by lorries and other large floats, we could use LOTS of humanists to help get our message of equality out to the crowds.

We are also in the gardens
In the gardens we will have our "all day" presence, as the walk is only one hour long. Here is where the public can ask us questions, and we can invite them to come and hear what we are all about.

Free Dorset Humanist T shirt, to those who join us
We have 6 T shirts on hot stand by, so step forward and volunteer to walk with us in the parade. It is great fun, and is for anybody, half our team were straight last year. We especially need women volunteers, as we were an all male group last year.
