What we’re about
An informal, inclusive, politically progressive social group, founded in 2003 in NYC. Drinking Liberally, a part of the Living Liberally network, now has over 200 chapters in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to be themselves.
You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration, and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. (But you're not required to, either.)
If you would like to host a Drinking Liberally (or Screening Liberally, or Eating Liberally, or Reading Liberally, or any kind of Liberally) event in your area, please suggest it on the Meetup page! You don't need my permission.
However, any event that explicitly endorses a particular party or candidate will not be allowed. Any charity, humanitarian,or animal care work would be great.
GROUP RULES
- Members must be 18+ years of age.
- Accounts inactive over 6 months will be removed.
- Please try to attend at least 3 of our gatherings a year.
- If you are annoyed by the amount of e-mail, please do not announce your frustration to the group. Instead adjust your e-mail settings.
Ad hominem attacks and vulgar language will not be tolerated. The same rules apply to our Facebook group, Hampton Roads Drinking Liberally.
