Project management for small teams: Agile and JIRA
Details
If you've ever built a website on a team (big or small), you know there are many more challenges than just the technical! You've got to deal with deadlines, budgets, acurately conveying requirements, keeping track of who's working on what, handling dependencies between different components of the project, tracking bugs, and keeping the stakeholders (ie. clients, bosses) up-to-date on progress, etc...
And if you've never worked on a team - well, learning about some of these things and common pitfalls will get you ready for when you do. :-)
This month, Steve Klebar is going to lead an informal conversation about managing the software development process for small teams. He will talk about his experiences using Agile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agile_software_development) and JIRA (https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira) as tools and the benefits of capturing user stories (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_stories), scenarios and Behavior-driven Development (BDD) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavior-driven_development).
Please bring YOUR war stories as well! Hearing about what went wrong in real life can help demonstrate why these practices are necessary. (And it's super fun to talk about! ;-))
The best food at a Meetup!
As always, Steve will bring some amazing home cookin'! We might not be the biggest Meetup, but we have the best food!
Bring your problems & successes:
Are you working on a Drupal site and hit a problem? Bring it to the meetup and we'll try to help you solve it!
Did you just create something awesome with Drupal? Or learn something cool? Show it off during a 5 minute lightning talk.
PS: A few months ago, David presented about Behat and Behavior-driven Development (BDD) - if you want to get a head start, check out the video of his presentation (https://mvpcreator.com/blog/drupal414-introduction-behat-and-automated-behavioral-testing). PPS: The Sprint (https://www.meetup.com/Drupal414/events/156804262/) a couple weeks ago was awesome! We'll probably reflect a bit on that and discuss when to do another one. :-)
