Rendering HTML with Drupal: Past, Present and Future

Details
In this presentation, Steve Persch (http://www.stevepersch.com/) will review the mental models used in Drupal theming (ie. customizing the way your site looks).
For years Drupal core has encouraged a mindset of altering and overriding its internal understanding of data structures. However, much of the front-end community wants to think of design components independent of their Drupal implementations.
We will discuss tools and workflows that can be used now to reconcile these attitudes including Panels, Display Suite, Sass, static prototypes and style guides. Then we will look ahead to some technologies like Web Components and Drupal 8 to see how these decision points will shift.
And the phrase "Headless Drupal" will come up at least a dozen times. :-)
Virtual participation over Google Hangouts
If you want to participate in the meetup but can't make it down physically, no worries - you can participate over Google Hangouts!
We'll be starting the feed at 6:30pm - you can either use Google Hangouts to participate fully (https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/ytl/vjVQa1PpcFO2zP9aHhNR3Qu_o_iLIEUdmqBT-g_Yn4Q=?authuser=0&eid=101056750781910056103&hl=en_US) (ie. you can ask questions with your voice and interact!) or watch passively on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTC30psn8I8).
The best food at a Meetup!
As always, Steve will bring some amazing home cookin'! We might not be the biggest Meetup, but we have the best food!
Bring your problems & successes:
Are you working on a Drupal site and hit a problem? Bring it to the meetup and we'll try to help you solve it!
Did you just create something awesome with Drupal? Or learn something cool? Show it off during a 5 minute lightning talk.
Hang out and co-work before the event (starting at 3.30pm)!
If you're available before the event, come hang out and co-work with us at the Hudson Business Lounge (http://www.hudson-business-lounge.com/) (only a few blocks from C2): 310 E Buffalo St
Basically, we'll all be sitting around working on our own Drupal-related things. This is a great time to ask for in-depth help with something or just see what everyone else is doing with Drupal.
