Come and meet the Tiger

Details

To kick off 2015 we're in the MongoDB offices in Latin Hall, Golden Lane.

Before the actual meetup, we will be running an office hours session from 17:00 to 18:30. If you are a veteran or a novice with a specific question feel free to drop in at this time to talk with MongoDB engineers.

Our first talk will introduce WiredTiger. In 3.0 there will be the option to use the WiredTiger storage engine as one of the Pluggable Storage Engines options. It was built by the engineers who wrote BerkeleyDB and is a modern, high-performance, high-throughput storage engine. WiredTiger takes advantages of multi-core servers and compact file formats to improve performance for certain types of workloads (particularly write-heavy workloads). It also provides document-level locking out of the box.

Our second talk will introduce how you can do data exploration using the MongoDB aggregation engine and how to best manipulate the data. The title is "Live AdHoc Data Exploration without ETL for non-technical users" and will be given by Ernesto Ongaro. He is a BI Consultant with TIBCO Jaspersoft.

Schedule:

From 17:00 to 18:30

• Q&A Office Hours session for your specific questions or problems.

From 18:30 to 20:15

• Come and meet the Tiger - Talk by Norberto Leite, Community Evangelist, MongoDB

• Live AdHoc Data Exploration without ETL for non-technical users, Ernesto Ongaro, TIBCO Jaspersoft

As always if you're interested to do a short or long talk about an area of expertise which involves MongoDB, a project or company of yours, feel free to contact one of the organisers directly.

Also don't forget to comment if you have topics you'd like to see discussed. P.S. Yes, there will be swag as well as some food, beer and soft drinks
