Talks on upgrading/benchmarking plus on memory management

Details

We have two great talks lined up for our next meetup! We're also moving to a new venue next door, the Radisson Blu Hotel, which is beside the MongoDB Dublin offices.

Our first talk will be by Charity Majors (https://twitter.com/mipsytipsy), Production Engineering Manager at Parse/Facebook. The talk will cover the pitfalls and experiences of her and her team in upgrading and benchmarking MongoDB. Parse (https://www.parse.com/) provides the mobile backend service (MBaaS) to over 500k mobile applications. You can see her keynote from last year's MongoDB World here.

Our second talk will be by Ricardo Lorenzo (https://twitter.com/Ricard0Lorenz0), Technical Services Engineer at MongoDB. The talk will cover the Memory Mechanics used by MongoDB and an introduction into the OS concepts that impact a memory-mapped database engine such as the MMAPv1 (http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/core/storage/#mmapv1-storage-engine) storage engine (http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/faq/storage/#what-is-a-storage-engine).

Schedule:

From 18:15 to 19:30

• Upgrading your databases without losing your data, your performance or your mind - Talk by Charity Majors, Production Engineering Manager, Parse/Facebook

• MongoDB memory mechanics - Talk by Ricardo Lorenzo, Technical Services Engineer, MongoDB

As always if you're interested to do a short or long talk about an area of expertise which involves MongoDB, a project or company of yours, feel free to contact one of the organisers directly.

Also don't forget to comment if you have topics you'd like to see discussed.

P.S. Yes, there will be swag and limited refreshments.
