West Coast Monster Meetup – Road Trip to Quail Lodge Motorcycle Gathering

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Monster, we’re making a pilgrimage to the annual Quail Motorcycle Gathering which will have a dedicated Ducati Monster showcase this year. Our journey will start at Ducati Newport Beach (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Ducati+Newport+Beach&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Ducati+Newport+Beach&hnear=Ducati+Newport+Beach&cid=0,0,4497565167922808630&t=m&z=14&iwloc=A) in Costa Mesa, CA and wind up the epic California coastline with our final destination being Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, CA. All Monster owners are welcome to join us at any point along the ride or you can meet us at Quail Lodge on the day of the event. Our friends at Butler Maps (http://www.butlermaps.com/) have put together an incredible route and I encourage everyone to join us for as much of the ride as possible. If you haven’t made this journey yet, it has some incredible roads and possibly the most epic views you’ll ever experience on a motorcycle. Details of the ride and the various planned activities along the way are below.

Day 1

The trip will start with coffee and pastries at Ducati Newport Beach (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Ducati+Newport+Beach&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Ducati+Newport+Beach&hnear=Ducati+Newport+Beach&cid=0,0,4497565167922808630&t=m&z=14&iwloc=A) in Costa Mesa, CA the morning of Thursday, May 2 at 8:30am. At 10:00am, kickstands up and we’re on our way towards Santa Barbara. From there, we will make our way towards Morro Bay where we’ll finish our day, have dinner (Location TBC) and post up for the evening.

Note that we do not have any official agreements or special rates with the Blue Sail Inn, but the rates are very reasonable (around $100). Book ASAP as the rooms are limited. Should the hotel sell out, we will select an “overflow” hotel near by.

Day 2

Day 2 will begin on Friday, May 3 with breakfast at Dorn’s Breakers Cafe (http://www.dornscafe.com/) at 8:00am. Kickstands up at 10:30am as we head through the vineyards of Paso Robles and some great roads before jumping back on HWY 1 towards Big Sur and some of the most breathtaking coastline you’ll ever experience. There will be several photo opportunities and a coffee stop before lunch at Nepenthe (http://www.nepenthebigsur.com/). From there we’ll head to the legendary Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (http://www.mazdaraceway.com/) in Monterey, CA where Ducati has organized a very special treat! You guessed it... you’ll have the opportunity to ride your Monster around this world-renowned track! We will have the entire track to ourselves for a few organized parade laps at a controlled pace (slow), but fun none-the-less! Afterwards we’ll head into Monterey where we’ll have dinner (TBD) and post up for the evening.

Day 3
Day 3 is the day we head over to Quail Lodge for The Quail Motorcycle Gathering. Expect a relaxing day amongst fellow motorcycle enthusiasts and some of the most interesting (and rare) motorcycles in the world. The event starts at 10am and runs to 3:30pm. Details about the ride in to come soon.

A Note About Tickets!
Tickets include Ducati Monster dedicated parking, entrance to the event, live music and a gourmet lunch. There is a $5 discount for Ducatisti, but we suggest you purchase your tickets at the door. Why??? Throughout the course of our journey, eight Monsters will be hand selected to park on the lawn with the Monster showcase and Ducati will cover their entry fee, including entry for their owners. Best case scenario: you get in for free. Worst case scenario: you get in at a discounted rate. Not bad either way...

Support Vehicle
Corse Moto Transport will follow us from Newport to Carmel with a Sprinter van should any incidents occur along the way. Thanks Dan! Plan to pack light, but if you have a SMALL bag you need to throw in the van, we’ll make it happen.
