Card Games

Let's play some card games. As long as you don't need a board, you're good. I'll have Cards Against Humanity, Anomia, Muchkin, Once Upon a Time, and a few others. Bring whatever game you like.

It looks like I can make it after all. I don't have to be at work until 5pm.

Grave Robbers From Outer Space is easy to learn in a few minutes. In this game you are the director of a low-budget sci-fi/horror movie. You're dealt a random selection of characters, settings, props, and effects, and you make the best of what you've got whether the result makes any sense or not. Even more fun is sending your monsters over to the other productions to wreck them. If you've ever wanted to make your own "Plan 9 From Outer Space" or "Zombie Nudist Camp Massacre" you'll probably enjoy it.

Most of the card games played at these meetups have simple rules (the board games can have 50-page rulebooks). Fluxx may be the simplest: you just do what it says on the cards. They're all about taking, holding, discarding, and collecting certain combinations of cards, so there's nothing dangerous or embarrassing involved. I have the Monty Python Fluxx edition, which has a Trojan Rabbit and other Python-inspired cards. I'll bring it in case there are any other Python fans in attendance.

We have to explain games to people all the time, be it a new game or new person. You'll be fine

I'll bring Red Dragon Inn and a couple of other games. I'll see if I can find a Pooky stand-in too.

I'm particularly interested in trying Once Upon a Time. But lest I give anyone the impression that I think gaming is all unicorns, rainbows, and fairies, I'll also bring Grave Robbers From Outer Space (with Skippy's Revenge expansion).
