Saturday Brunch and Learn a European Boardgame

Details

This event combines two amazing activities: eating delicious food and playing European boardgames. :)

The most popular European boardgames these days include games such as Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Carcassonne. If you've tried those and are ready to explore other games then this event is for you.

The event limit is 5 people (which may increase or decrease in future meetups depending on the game). Please RSVP only if you're 99% sure you are coming since it's common courtesy (also, the Meetup group's no-show policy is 3 and you're out), space is limited, and for some games having the exact # of people is what makes the game work.

$2 meetup dues will be collected if you're a new Active Gamer and/or haven't paid your dues for this year.

DOMINION! Ooooh! Aaaaaahhh! Waka waka waka.

Dominion won the 2009 Spiel des Jahres (German game of the year) and popularized a clever card mechanic known as "deck-building"...a mechanic that has inspired countless other deck-building games such as Thunderstone, Eaten by Zombies, Resident Evil, Eminent Domain, Core Worlds, Ascension, Nightfall, etc.

Dominion is easy to learn, yet difficult to master as there are many different paths to win. Here's your chance to learn one of the most interesting and fun games ever to be designed. Oh and here's an interesting fact: the designer of Dominion, Donald X. Vaccarino, recently won a second Spiel des Jahres award for his 2012 game Kingdom Builder. Woo hoo!

For this meetup, Dominion will be taught by Drew. Manny (that's me) is on vacation :). Have fun and be nice to him!

Foster's Market:

Foster's Market is a pretty awesome place with delicious food and a mix of modern and vintage furniture. I think it's called shabby chic furniture or something like that. Food is sold counter service so you can order and pay for your food individually. They also have vegetarian options! A laundry mat is also located next door if you want to multitask. Cleaning your hands before we play is highly appreciated.

You can check out Foster Market's menu here: http://www.fostersmarket.com/menus/market-menu/
