A compelling user experience is critical to the success of any mobile app so this month's EB New Tech Meetup will go deep into Mobile UX design with Alexis Finch, User Experience Researcher Extraordinaire who has consulted for Fortune 500 companies on everything from pet food to panty-liners.
Given the small screen, mobile user interaction needs to be simple and intuitive to retain user interest and drive deeper engagement with the app. However, a good user design is more than just skin deep. It's focused on solving the user problem, rather than trying to wow them with a slick design.
Successful mobile applications like Instagram have a purposeful, utilitarian interface, designed to delight the users with their sheer ease of use. However, not many mobile developers really look at what problem they're trying to solve and instead choose to focus on features, colors instead of user need.
So we've invited Alexis to help address the conundrum for most developers - What do Mobile Users Really Want & How to Design a Killer Mobile UX.
When she's not presenting on UX, Alexis uses her extensive global experience to help startups, to get them from insight to problem and on to solution. You can check out some of Alexis' work at GraphiteMind, where she creates sketchnotes for explaining tricky technology topics.
