9:15am at the BK for those who don't know their way.

10:00am at Back Beach for those who know how to get there.

East Coast Divers has teamed up with the North Shore Frogmen for their Annual New Years Day dive. What ever your reason for diving on the 1st of Jan, whether it be the love of the awesome winter vis or the need to clear the head from the previous nights celebrations it will be a good time to be had by all! Last year the NSF had 32 divers in the water, let's see if we can help them beat that number and shoot for 50 crazy divers at Back beach!

We look forward to seeing you there!

NB: Meeting time and place subject to change, any changes will be updated to event as soon as they are released.

My reg is rated for 5 degrees C. This will be awfully close ... Wondering if I'll be OK?

Will 7mm suffice? It's all I have. I'm also guessing that ppl will be doing only a 1 tank dive and not venturing too deep at that?

7MM will probably be fine. It's not going to be warm by a long stretch, but it's tolerable for 20 minutes or so. There will be several people there who dive wet year round. There is usually a heated trailer available for changing after the dive if it's too cold. I don't think most people will be doing a second dive that day, but the option is there. It's mostly symbolic for people...doing the first dive of the year on New Year's day. You can use a couple of tricks to stay a little warmer during the dive, such as using a chemical heat pack from CVS inside your wetsuit and flooding the wetsuit with warm water before getting in. I'm usually good for about 30 minutes or so in a 7mm during the winter, but get changed out of my wetsuit and into dry clothes as soon as possible after the dive is over.

Didn't the Frogmen announce the dive as being at Back Beach?

Right you are fella! I copied this over from last year and missed that change :-) Back Beach is indeed the location.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
