Join EPAM Tech Talks on 25th April in Sofia!

The focus of the event will be to show a number of technologies used to build best-of-breed solutions in the HFT (High Frequency Trading) domain.
We will have 3 sessions: Balazs Kollar from EPAM Hungary is going to speak about FIX (Financial Information Exchange Protocol) with QuickFIX/J and EPAM FIX, Martin Toshev (EPAM Bulgaria) presenting a very interesting session about KDB database and Tibor Sulyan (EPAM Hungary) will close the event with sharing his team’s experiences about Distributed Coordination with Zookeeper and Curator.

Please note that the sessions will be presented in English.

Balazs Kollar: FIX (Financial Information Exchange Protocol) with QuickFIX/J and EPAM FIX
The session will present the standard protocol for HFT processing of financial securities – driven entirely by the needs of the financial sector.

Martin Toshev: KDB database
Used by virtually any large financial institution (such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley or Deutche Bank) this column-oriented database based on the concepts of ordered lists and backed by the highly-dynamic Q language is used to store efficiently low-latency real-time and historical data.

Tibor Sulyan: Distributed Coordination with Zookeeper and Curator
Build on top of Hadoop Apache Zookeeper and Curator provide great means to distribute high volumes of data and has its great application in the area of HFT.

Bio of Speakers:

Balázs Kollár
Balázs joined EPAM Systems Hungary in July 2013. Since then on the area of Financial Services he was working on various order management systems utilizing the FIX protocol.

Martin Toshev
Martin is a Java enthusiast and a contributor to the OpenJDK platform. He is a graduate of Computer Science from the University of Sofia. He is also a certified Java professional (SCJP6) and a certified IBM cloud computing solution advisor. His areas of interest include the wide range of Java-related technologies (such as Servlets, JSP, JAXB, JAXP, JMS, JMX, JAX-RS, JAX-WS, Hibernate, Spring Framework, Liferay Portal and Eclipse RCP), cloud computing technologies, cloud-based software architectures, enterprise application integration, relational and NoSQL databases. You can reach him for any Java and FOSS-related topics (especially Eclipse and the OpenJDK). Martin is working for EPAM Bulgaria as Lead Software Engineer in the Financial Business Unit.

Tibor Sulyan
Tibor started to work at EPAM systems as a software engineer at 2008 in Budapest, Hungary. Since then he was involved in various projects from the areas of Talent Management and Financial Services. High availability of services was always a top priority requirement. In his current project several HA schemes are implemented using Apache Zookeeper and Curator.
