Greetings Hardwarians,

We are so pleased to announce our next speaker, Colin Owen, CEO of Sparse, who is also an Assistant Professor at The California College of The Arts in San Francisco. He'll be sharing his experiences bootstrapping his startup SPARSE, a bicycle accessories company.

Have you ever been curious how bootstrapped startups do it? What are the advantages to bootstrapping? Disadvantages? Come listen to Colin talk about what SPARSE has experienced, what surprised him, and how he has changed his expectations.

Our next event is being graciously hosted by Next Space Berkeley.

Colin Owen, CEO of SPARSE
Colin was raised in the deep south on a steady diet of trails, mischief, and tinkering. He was made (mostly) civil at Rice University (B.A. in Arch, B. of Arch.) and Art Center College of Design (M.S.I.D.). Prior to Sparse, he served a diverse set of clients including Wireless Generation, Nokia, NASA, Nike, Intel, Biodesign, and Terrazign.

In addition to heading up Sparse, he is also an Assistant Professor at The California College of The Arts in San Francisco. In that position he founded the Urban Mobility Initiative which puzzles out civic transportation issues and makes bikes. When not careening through the streets of San Francisco or grinding up hills of the North Bay, he’s brewing up the next batch of Sparse innovations.

8:15 - 8:45 Demos: 2 min's intros from attendees who want to announce their product or service. Feel free to bring a prototype, but beyond your prototype, just you and a microphone to keep things moving.

8:45 - 9:30 More Networking.
