We're a group of people who like to meet up with others to walk/hike. Whatever your experience, you are welcome to come join us on our walks/hikes, which are of varying lengths and levels of difficulty. Our groups are set up so that our members suggest/organise meetups and don't just rely on the main Organiser. Input and participation from all members in organizing/leading walks helps create a rich and vibrant group. To this end, all who join are made into Assistant Organisers.  Watching for trail/route indicators/signs, map and compass reading as per what individuals are comfortable with is also very welcome and we hope to help each other learn orienteering.

Our members are located far and wide and meetups can take place anywhere members wish to organize them for. So if you'd like a meetup somewhere near you or would like to explore further afield, then just pop it on!

MEMBERSHIP LEVELS

- Organizer (and sometimes also Co-organizer), with access to all organizational and group facilities on the website;

- All other members are Assistant Organizers, rather than ordinary members. so that they have access to the tools for scheduling meetups. Please feel free to explore our website and these tools. Meetup.com's system also makes the scheduling of meetups very easy to do and there is a good Help and FAQ section which can be accessed.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

We don't charge for meetup events or have a joining fee, yet a small non-compulsory donation to help cover the 6-monthly (June/December) Subscription fees of the Meetup Site is most gratefully received.  As we are a sister group to the East Kent Music Group, both groups are paid for by one Subscription fee, so any donations/expenditure will be split between the two groups. If you are a member of both, you don't need to donate twice - once is enough!

Some history of our group for you!

Previously known as Sth East (Kent, UK) Get-together MakeMusic-Hike-Walk Group, Diane is the group’s founding organizer having  joined a local meetup.com hiking group while living in Melbourne, Australia. She created a similar group in Kent,UK in 2009. A singer guitarist, she wanted to get together with others to make music as well as walk/hike. The group originally had all under one umbrella, as Diane didn't realize her meetup.com subscription covered the creation of more than one group. This led to some thinking we were minstrels!

During times of Diane's absence from the UK, Elaine and Sarah have been organizers, and we are most grateful to them for all they did for the groups. While Elaine was organizer, it was decided to create two separate groups, and this has worked very well. While Sarah was organizer our numbers grew considerably. Thanks, Elaine and Sarah!

Members enjoyed both music meetups in the New Inn pub in Minster near Ramsgate, as well as various walks which included a Grove Ferry to Pluck’s Gutter loop walk, a Minster to Reculver loop walk, Sandwich to Sandwich Bay loop walks, a Birchington to St Nicholas walk and Christmas lunch, a meetup at the Faversham Hop Festival which finished at a music session, and even a Hallowe’en costume walk in Minster!

This group is for those who'd like to share these types of musical experiences together:-

- Going to music concerts/events with others;

- Having fun playing instruments/singing together;

- Attending music sessions/jams;

- Practicing/learning an instrument or singing together;

- Learning how to read/write/compose music etc etc.

Basically, whatever members would like to do together music-wise in their group! Of course, we can also socialise after the event by going to a local pub or cafe or restaurant together either after an event or just to get together or for a celebration.
