Come enjoy some rock climbing. 

Open to anyone interested in climbing. Experience not necessary. Equipment is a plus but not necessary – someone generally has an extra harness, belay device, chalk bag etc.  If you are coming to a meetup and would like to borrow gear, just let us know in advance.

This group was founded by Samuel Hobbs in May, 2010 who was simply looking for climbing partners in the area, but he has since moved out of the Seattle area.  We are simply keeping the idea alive.

Thanks to Jenelle, Tammy and others, the group meetings have remained active in his absence.  In March 2012, after finding several climbing acquaintances through the group, Bryan joined the organizers to help with organizing duties and to keep the group from being unfunded with Meetup.

We're always gathering ideas and getting people with lead experience who want to host Meetups, and we will post them as soon as we know what's going on. Please, jump in! We would love to have you join us! If nothing scheduled attracts you, head to the discussion board and give us your two cents- with so many members, it's likely that someone else will share similar interests. Hope to meet you out on a wall somewhere!

Safety is paramount -- Many of us have been trained through climbing courses at the local climbing gyms, climbing courses under certified AMGA/IFGA guides, or various programs such as The Mountaineers.  We ask about Belay Certification with local gyms and about Lead Climbing/Lead Belay experience -- we are happy to share our knowledge in these skills but we also appreciate your candor in assessing your abilities and experience and learning with us.
