several years back i was approached by a guy named John for help. He was the local dumping ground for dogs/cats in Scott County. At the time-he had a number on his property and couldn't afford to feed much less vet them. I made arrangements and got them all fixed for him. over the period of a year-we moved 30-40 off his place into rescues mostly up north but several down here too. they do not have a shelter in Scott County and unfortunately he has used the Campbell county shelter (90% kill rate).
John was old then but now he's 80 yrs old. He has been given a terminal dx and has been given until the fall 2013 to live. I don't know what he's dealing w/ or if that means he will be in ok health until the fall or what. He has a disabled son (deaf and blind) and a wife that cannot drive and they live on the side of a mountain out in nowhere in Huntsville (near Oneida). I've been to his place. Not great for animals.
for several years i've sent him money and dog food. I just found out about his dx and his plans to get his wife and disabled son off the mountain back into campbell county where they can be looked after. (his wife is also about his age). he wants to have them moved by the summer. he has 12 dogs and not much time to look to place them.
I asked John several years ago to let me move this dog Angel but he refused cause it was one of his favorites. Now he has no choice. She is fixed (she was not at the time of the pic in 2008) and she was a breeding ground. thank goodness that is over. they have all had original shots, hw test, pills, deworming but may need updating now. Any chance you can help w/ her? She's very sweet. she was adorable back then. I think she'd move quicker than others. She's around 5-6 now. She may need the socialization that you could provide, although i don't remember her being a big problem.
As you can see this poor man is in dire need of help. These pics are just a few of the dogs. If you or know of anyone that would be willing to help this man please let me know. Unfortunately if we do not help they all will be sent to a high kill shelter and we are trying to avoid that to happen.
If you have questions, give me a call.
