Party Games. Strategy Games. Bar Trivia. Good Times. Fun People. 100% Free.
We are a fun and friendly group of board gamers based in Sherman Oaks. We love to play games like Taboo, Bananagrams, Qwirkle, Word Thief, Dixit, Pandemic, Settlers of Catan, Bang!, Apples to Apples (and its VERY inappropriate cousin Cards Against Humanity), and Ticket to Ride, to name just a few. Our members love everything from longer Euro games and light strategy games to word games and party games. We encourage our members to bring their own games for variety (and they can teach us how to play too). If you love fun and lively interaction with fellow gamers, then check us out!
About us: We are three dynamic and friendly people in our 30s and 40s, and we welcome people who are 21 and up (sorry, no teenagers) who have a healthy love of games and friendly competition. Good sportsmanship is not only appreciated, it's required! The age range seems to center on 30- and 40-somethings, but we welcome all.
Our events will take place in local East Valley locations such as Vitello's in Studio City (which has its very cool separate gaming room). We will meet periodically, usually on Sundays during the day. We also do bar trivia from time to time in Sherman Oaks.
*We hope that you’re mindful of events with waiting lists, and you’re respectful of other members and their time. (i.e., If at all possible, if people are on the waiting list, please change your RSVP to No in a timely manner out of respect for the people waiting. Once you go in and change your RSVP to No, Meetup will send the first person on the waitlist an email to alert them. It will greatly endear you to the rest of the members if you’re considerate. You can also easily change your RSVP using the smartphone Meetup app.)
**Please note, as evidenced by our mention of Cards Against Humanity, some of the language used in the games or by our members is a bit "blue," so if you're uncomfortable with that, this group might not be a good fit for you.**
***We don't allow members to bring guests. We used to, but it didn't seem to work (guests wouldn't show up and this took spots from actual members of our group). If you'd like to bring a spouse, friend, or date with you, he or she needs to create their own profile on Meetup and join our group. Thank you for your cooperation. :-)
****If you no-show a bunch of times, we tend to just remove you from our group. We don't like gamers who play Hard to Get. ;-) (We prefer Scrabble.)
