First Friday Author Signing

Hi Guys!

Some of our Authors are going to be signing books down at the squash blossom.

This is a great opportunity to show support for our local authors (many of them from our groups!), have a bite to eat at the squash blossom, or just go out and enjoy First Friday!

For immediate release:

Creating a New Venue and Approach for Local Arts and Artists

There are too few places in Phoenix for local artists to share, be noticed, and sell their work. The city has a vibrant community of writers, poets, painters, photographers, and more; but there is a dearth of places for them to meet, exchange ideas, and meet the public. There is a need for such a venue.

Squash Blossom (705 N. First St.) is responding to that need in a totally new way—by allowing artists to use wall space and writers to meet one another and the public.

First, the restaurant started hosting the Monday Night meeting of the Central Phoenix Writers’ Meetup. (Mondays, 6:30-9)

Now Squash Blossom is creating a First Friday presence with authors signing their books, artists and photographers sharing their work, and live music. The first event will be Aug. 2, 6:30-9.

Offering such a supportive and available venue for the arts is something new and exciting in downtown. It deserves media attention.

Lots of great people. I saw some from every group which was great to see some solidarity. Was a very busy night.
