Connecting WordPress to Facebook, Twitter, and other Social Sites

Let's look at different ways that we can post to and from various Social Media sites. Bring your sites and show off the way you've done it. (For instance Pieter Hartsook has that great Facebook integration on Finding Elmo...any other volunteers?)

    Awesome meetup so much information and very helpful. Really great to meet all the Bay Area Word Press members, hope all of you will take us up on the http://welocally.com perk for our hyperlocal plugin!

    There are so many social media plugins--and the Facebook ones can involve such complexity--that we could have spent an entire day on it. At least we managed to cover some of the basics. The contributions from Ted Curran and Pieter Hartsook were very helpful.

    I had no idea this was going to be an all day affair. Scheduled to start at noon, when I arrived at just after 1pm, they were just starting to audience introductions. By 1:45, she still hadn't started her presentation, was just taking random questions from the audience and not doing a great job of answering them. Glad this only cost $5.00. This presenter was not very good.

    This was a nice overview of social media plug-ins and widgets and nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I had already implemented a couple of the methods discussed, so it was good to be validated! As usual, I picked up some great resources just from listening to the questions that were asked. Sallie's presentation was well organized but not so rigid that questions couldn't be asked throughout.

    @Ellen-
    There is a great tool called http://twitterfeed.com/ that does what you're talking about. You just feed your blog's RSS feed into it and give it the twitter account you want it to post to. Works on Facebook, too. Interestingly, you can do this for any RSS feed, not just ones you own/control. I used it to make a twitter account for the San Francisco PD police blotter just based on their website's RSS feed. http://twitter.com/#!/SFPoliceBlotter.

    Hi meetup colleagues - I can't attend today, but I do have a question - how to have tweets automatically generated on twitter whenever I create new wordpress blog posts, with a url that takes the twitter-reader right to the blog on my website.

    Hi, Clay. Definitely beyond JetPack. Plugins like Embed Facebook and Facebook Grabber, and alternative Twitter options, and other social sharing tools.
