Baltimore EdTech MeetUp :: Creating Tech Access, Engaging Personal Inquiry

Details

Decreasing the Digital Divide is an important objective towards the
goal of increasing opportunities for children in Baltimore. Digital
Harbor Foundation's Tech Center endeavors to provide access to various tools of technology. These tools can be used to translate individual passions into engaging and useful forms of communication and other exciting outcomes.

A nurturing, open environment is offered to inspire and foster inquiry
and creativity. Educators serve as facillitators and guides in
creating a "team learning environment" where educator and student journey through the learning process. At the elementary level, we begin with exposure to technology and building habits of mind such as attention, curiosity, focus, persistance, flexibility, frustration tolerance, and problem solving. We also work on relationship skills in order to build the interpersonal foundation needed for teamwork. The older students are given access to tools that enable them to create complex projects individually or in teams. We hope to share some of our experiences at the Tech Center Meetup and invite your responses to our efforts thus far.

Join us as we explore the work on EdTech Link Fellows Dr. Ann Carberry from Federal Hill Prep and Tamirate Aklog from Digital Harbor High School.
