Learning without School: An Evening with Pam Sorooshian

On February 26th, Pam Sorooshian, a parent of three adult children, will talk about her experiences and ideas as an unschooling parent. Pam has participated in and moderated online homeschooling/unschooling discussions for the past 19 years and has spoken at or attended about 30 homeschool conferences. Pam is an economics and statistics professor and has taught at a number of different colleges and universities. She is especially interested helping parents avoid passing their own math anxieties on to their children. She also promotes peaceful family living without punishment and is a staunch defender of teenagers against common societal stereotypes.

Pam's information was fantastic. We are with an online charter right now and are considering unschooling/traditional homeschooling. I am stuck on math and language arts being necessary and Pam showed us how we can work stuff in every day to any subject. More talks like this, please....

All, between this event page and the Facebook event page, we have completely filled (and possibly overfilled) the banquet room at Mimi's cafe in Irvine. I am looking into changing locations to accommodate more people. Would this effect anyone's ability to attend? I'm not sure of the options right now, but it might not be in Irvine. Tell me if you have a problem with moving this event, please!

Thanks for your input, Amy. We will try to keep it near Irvine/Tustin, since that is pretty central for people in the OC, and we have people coming from Brea, Fullerton, as well as down south. It's just hard to find a (free) place that holds over 45 people. :(

      Sounds great, thanks!

Okay. We made the decision to keep the event at Mimi's and to close it to new RSVPs. So, there is now a waitlist for any new members who decide to come. And it is VERY important that you show up by 7pm to get a good spot. There is a chance the room will fill up. Finally, if your plans change and you cannot come, please change your RSVP to allow someone else the opportunity to come. Even changing it on the day of the event is helpful. Thanks!

Please RSVP now to our next event with Jonathon Crouch from Steve & Kate's Camp (steveandkatescamp.com) so you don't miss out on a spot!

We are so excited that we have will have a great turnout for this event! Since we are holding this at a restaurant, we do need an accurate number for attendees. If you have RSVP'd and your plans change, PLEASE update your RSVP as soon as possible.
