I'm excited for our second official Denver meetup tonight. We have a fascinating lineup of speakers, fantastic turnout, and a great venue.
1391 Speer Blvd #710
Denver CO 80204Please park in the lot on the roof of King Soopers. We will make sure the door from that lot stays open from 6:15 until 6:45. If you arrive before or after that time, please call Dan at 614.580.9674. The meetup is in a conference room on the 7th floor.
After our speakers present, the podium will be open for anyone to present an EdTech app/site/tool they use and love. Lightning round presentations will be limited to 45 seconds; no preparation needed!
All presentations are 6 minutes, with time for Q&A afterward.
1. Gus Calabrese - 99theFactory99theFactory will be a 5,000 sq ft factory on a 44 acre mountain property that supports inventors, hackers, students, and teachers. Its activities will be designed to support the Free and Open Source Software movement as well as creative and educational projects.
2. David Cass - UvizeAt Uvize we believe that academic orientation and strategy needs to take place before students arrive on campus. We are also confident that academic advising requires a self-managed system to augment on-campus resources. Our services are broadly categorized as both academic orientation and advising.
Teacher Erin Martin will introduce the challenge of finding great curriculum. After being shown quick demos of three curriculum sharing platforms, we'll have a panel discussion about the opportunities and challenges in the curriculum-sharing space.
6. Nihal ElRayess - Startup Weekend SF EDU
Nihal organized a fantastic Startup Weekend EDU in Santa Clara two weeks ago. She'll explain Startup Weekend and their "EDU vertical," share some stories from her event, and let you know how to make Startup Weekend EDU: Boulder/Denver a reality.
7. Lighting Round
Meetup attendees will have a chance to quickly present a tool/site/app they use and love.
See you all tonight,
