Hosted by Cross Campus, a coworking and office space in the heart of Silicon Beach, Educelerate this month is featuring some of the great companies and ideas that members of the education start-up community in Los Angeles are working on. Entrepreneurs starting to bring in outside investors and/or finalizing the development of a product will have opportunity to receive advice, critique and questions on their five-minute company presentation.

Our list of presenting companies currently includes:

• ApplyMap: Steve Palley

• Monster Genomics Project: Jeff Lander

• Eddefy: Evonne Heyning

Yokyco.co: Luz Rivas

• Propagate, Inc.: Frank Freeman

• CodeSpark: Grant Hosford

Feedback will be provided by both audience members as well as a panel of experts, including veterans of the education industry as well as angel/seed investors with interest in education, including:

• Janet Tsai Dargan: senior advisor at boutique digital media and technology investment bank and venture capital firm Siemer & Associates as well as Founder & CEO of media and entertainment firm Pentafoglio Media, LLC.

• Vinit Sukhija: leads Teach For America’s Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation Team including TFA’s Social Innovation Award related programming and coaching several entrepreneurs in the team’s pipeline.

• Craig Jones: founder and CEO of SmartestK12.com, a developer of smarter assignments and assessments that save time, provide real-time feedback and track student growth.

• Dan Dato: co-founder of CrossCampus, where he develops products, builds sales & marketing teams, and serves as an advisor & mentor to start-ups in such fields as publishing, education, internet infrastructure and mobile.

• Matthew Pierce: Vice President of Product Innovation at Originate

• Phil Kim: Chief Operations Officer & Co-Founder at 20MM while also managing the development of the venture capital platform Karlin Asset Management.
