Mill Road Winter Fair and some Cambridge pubs

On Saturday 7th December it will be time once again for the Mill Road Winter Fair which is always worth checking out. This Fair is a local, community run event which is held in Mill Road in Cambridge and is always good fun, there are numerous parades, bands and stalls selling all sorts of food, drink and gifts open throughout the day.

The Fair starts early but I propose we meet at Ely Station at 12 noon to catch the train down there (there is normally a train at 12;26 on a Saturday but I will confirm times closer to the time). We will keep plans relatively flexible but they will involve wondering around, seeing the parade and the bands, having lots to eat and drink and finishing off in a pub or two at the end. Jacqui and Geoff are playing (Geoff is a member of this meetup) so we will definitely see them but beyond that plans can be flexible depending on what people want to do.

Please wrap up warm as we will be outside most of the day.

Final details confirmed

There is  a train which leaves Ely at 12;26pm and so we will plan to get that one, everyone will be responsible for getting their own tickets so I propose we meet in the ticket hall at around 12:15pm. sometimes the ticket hall is busy and so please leave enough time to get your ticket, I wont wait for anyone who does not arrive in case you are not coming and have not updated your rsvp.

If anyone would like to meet us at Cambridge station we will get there at 12;44 so will meet you round the corner from the main entrance, by the police station just after that (please tell me if you plan to do that tho).

The plan for the day is to wander around and see the processions, check out the stalls, have some food and see some bands. Jacqui and Geoff (meetup band) are on at 4pm in the Gwydr Street carpark and so we will definately see them. After we have seen J&G I would imagine we might be feeling quite cold and knackered and probably thinking about heading to the pub. the pubs in the area will be pretty busy but I propose we check out The Empress (for the crazy Christmas decorations,) and finish of in the Salisbury Arms as it is close to the station (other pub suggestions welcome.

If you would like to join us throughout the day you are very welcome, please email me through the site, I have an iphone and will pick up emails regularly and can let you know where we are.

If you change your mind and are now unable to come please update your rsvp so I have a vague idea of who to expect.

I look forward to seeing you there

Just wanted to say thanks for the event, and also to apologise if I annoyed anyone with my sometimes awkward social skills, either in the West End House pub or earlier. (Sometimes, I think that in a social group like this, some of us should be wearing 'L' plates.)

Thanks Geoff, I wasn't sure I had been as polite a debater as you were :)

P.S. reading my comments here again, I feel I ought to clarify that I wasn't just referring to my debate with you Geoff, yes I was worried I had been a bit impolite and defensive, but Rachael was a good moderator and to be honest the debate was probably one of my better moments!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
