You'll hear from some great San Franciscan Ember developers, while enjoying a great opportunity to mingle with the best and brightest local Ember folk. See you all there...
Beginner / Intermediate Talk
by James Rosen
I'll be talking about Ember-I18n, an Ember library that provides rich internationalization features. After this short talk, I and other Zendeskians will host a Q&A about New Zendesk.
Intermediate / Advanced Talk
by Tom Dale
Ember Data is the missing piece in the web application puzzle. Currently, everyone has to handroll code that loads data off their server, makes it available in the browser, then saves changes back to the server. With Ember Data, the differences between servers are encapsulated in an adapter, so your app works the same, no matter what backend you're using.
In this talk, I will go in-depth into the architecture and internals of Ember Data. You'll learn the rationale behind many of the key design decisions, as well as how to best think about sharing information between your client-side app and the server. You'll also get an introduction to how the adapter works, the public hooks you can override to customize it, and how to tailor it to the unique constraints of your API. To finish, I will also present an update on the current status of the project and as well as an outline of the future roadmap.
This is an advanced talk that is code—and concept—heavy, so bring your thinking cap!
Zendesk is a SaaS customer service solution. We recently released the new version of our software that makes heavy usage of Ember.js on the client side.
