Two public affairs forums in San Francisco give us the opportunity to learn about important issues, enabling us to better engage locally and globally in programs that seek to make this a better World.
The World Affairs Council of Northern California hosts a large number of events every year with leading political and business leaders, academics, journalists, and artists. We learn about China, India, Palestine, Israel, Iran, Latin America, African countries, and many other countries relevant to current events. We hear about energy, oil, economics, art, religion, science, health care, global peace, climate, and a number of other topics of significant interest. See the exciting program for this month at http://www.itsyourworld.org/wac/Calendar.asp?SnID=6452370...
The talks are held at 312 Sutter St., San Francisco, about 03. miles from the Montgomery St. BART (4 blocks, 7 minutes walk). The price for non-members is $15 and for members is usually free.
The Commonwealth Club (https://www.commonwealthclub.org/) hosts "a diverse and distinctive array of speakers, from Teddy Roosevelt in 1911 to Erin Brockovich in 2001. Along the way, Martin Luther King, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Bill Gates have all given landmark speeches at The Club." We have the opportunity to listen to heads of state, domestic and foreign political leaders, Nobel prize-winning scientists, authors, activists, artists, and more. Non-members fee is $18.00 and members fee are less than $12.00. The Club is only 105 feet from the Montgomery St BART, a one minute walk.
After the evening talks, we will go to a nearby restaurant for dinner (please send me your suggestions). I will post the selected restaurant a few days before the events.
Please join us for the exciting events that we will organize!
Support a Meetup group while getting exposure to active, local members.
