With all of the flux around film release dates shifting, I'm emailing some updates:
On Sun Nov 17th, Sara is hosting Robert Redford's survival epic "All Is Lost" in Walnut Creek.
On Sun Nov 24th, Kelly is hosting the WWII drama "The Book Thief" in Berkeley.
On Sun Dec 8th, I'll host Spike Lee's "Oldboy" starring Josh Brolin.
On Sun Dec 15th, we'll see the Coen Brothers' latest, "Inside Llewyn Davis" about a folk singer in New York City in 1961.
As the year ends, studios release their best films for award consideration. Later in December or early January we'll probably schedule Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" starring Leo DiCaprio, as well as the ensemble comedy-drama of a family reuniting in "August: Osage County".
I'm thrilled to see how this group has really taken off and I've really enjoyed the interesting and fun conversations that result as we've come together with our diverse perspectives. Thanks! It's especially exciting to get help hosting by motivated members like Keith, Sara, and Kelly while I'm out of town. As always, the best way to ensure a film is seen and discussed is to host yourself. Let me know if you'd like to.
I also want to start capturing the insights from our discussions in some way, maybe in the form of posts to a new blog. Let me know if this sounds interesting to you or if you have further ideas or concerns. Also, I'll be asking for help to cover the Meetup membership dues of about $15/month. Not sure about how I'm going to do it exactly, maybe by requesting donations at the events. Let me know if you have suggestions.
Finally, I've updated the group address and mailing list name to "Film and Enneagram". Group emails will have "Film-and-Enneagram" in the subject line, like this one does, and you can find the group on the web at: http://www.meetup.com/Film-and-Enneagram
Looking forward to seeing you at upcoming films and Enneagram discussions!
