Let’s Make A Difference! Volunteer in Tanzania & Help Rebuild a Medical Clinic!

Volunteering in Africa is a life-changing experience - even for the volunteer! Yes, your energy, enthusiasm, time, and skills truly have the power to change, even save, many lives – and at the same time you’re helping accomplish a vital, meaningful project, you’re likely to find that the experience is changing you too. You’ll be giving much of yourself, but you’ll receive much in return!

Our team is working hard to put together an incredible group of people, and call on you to Volunteer with Us in Africa this Feb, and make a life-saving difference for many thousands of rural Tanzanians. Our goal is to help renovate and add to the Endallah medical clinic, which serves over 10,000 persons and desperately needs basic medical supplies, medicine, a kitchen, staff housing, maternity ward and overall updating. In addition, while work is being done on the building, our medical volunteers will be providing free medical checkups and immunizations for local children.

To be successful, this important project needs as many volunteers as possible. Volunteers will be organized into teams, and each team needs a variety of skills - so rest assured, regardless of the skills you do, or don’t, have ~

You are needed and WILL make a difference!

Once you’re in Africa, with great need all around you, and you meet the locals and see the clinic facilities, you’ll understand fully the role this project will play in many wonderful people’s lives. Babies, Children, Mothers, Sick Persons and the Elderly - The work we complete on the clinic will do much to help them receive what we consider basic medical care and will increase their chances of survival when they need treatment. To put it into perspective, estimates indicate that Tanzania loses one woman every hour to pregnancy related complications (National Alliance of Global White Ribbon Survey, 2007.) What we can accomplish will go a long ways towards changing that cold statistic.

We are going to make a huge difference for some very deserving people.

We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give.

What to expect during your volunteer experience

Getting your hands dirty. You will be involved in renovating, building and maintaining a medical clinic in the heart of the Iraqw homeland, adjacent to scenic Lake Manyara. You will bask in the thanks and smiles of the Iraqw villagers as they watch you transform their only medical facility, which is so vital in all their lives. After working hard, you’ll have opportunities to enjoy cultural interactions with the local children, an orphanage visit, hiking around the Great Rift Valley, cultural home visits, and bonding with your fellow volunteers around the camp fire. You’ll fall asleep under the African stars after a good day’s work, surrounded by new friends and the sounds of evening African wildlife.

We hope that some will be able to join us for the entire period of Feb 2-13th, 2013.

Costing- We’re keeping the cost at bare minimum so everyone can focus on raising money to help fund the rebuilding and purchase medical supplies for the clinic. The amounts below are the total amount to prepay for your spot, and covers the things listed below under ‘What’s included.’

· Total- for one week volunteer program $305.00 per person, two person shared room.

· Optional Safari for 4 days in a private camp in the heart of the Serengeti. Check out our blog for those exciting detials.

What’s included: One hotel night in Arusha (shared, 2 people), safari-style tents while at volunteer camp (shared, 2 people), Safari type showers, 3 safari-style hot meals daily, Dinner in Karatu at local restaurant, bottled water, and group transportation to/from Arusha hotel and camp. Group transfers between the Kilimanjaro Airport and Arusha hotel and Iraqw home land. Pumziko Safari Lodge is donating all the group transportation to the Iraqw home land for our volunteers.

Not Included:International airfare (we’re looking at group volunteer rates), visa fees, transfers between Kilimanjaro airport and Arusha hotel if not arriving with the group or departing with the group, and any individual pre or post program travel is not included and is additional.

We would like each volunteer to try to raise $1000 or more each. However, raising this amount or any amount is not a requirement to join the group – we need you! We’ll be sending some great suggestions on how to raise money for your amazing volunteer trip to Tanzania. We’re putting a fundraising blog together that you can direct your family, friends or trip sponsors to donate under your name. You’ll be able load your photo on the site and check it daily to get acquainted with other volunteers and see how much money everyone’s raised. Thanks everyone, we’re so excited and know this is going to be an incredible, life-changing experience for us all!

We hope you'll join us on this amazing life changing journey. Please let us know if you would like further information on how you can join or help with this amazing project!
