Personally, I like to be reminded of the basics as much as advanced strategy at times because it's surprising how bad we can be at implementing what we already know!

I've just done some updates to my profile and will continue to tweak as I develop my offerings (changing weekly at the moment as I appeal to different audiences).

You can find me at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rachelbowditch

Do connect if you think we'd be able to help each other either directly or through our connections.

Thank you for your advice Patrick on how to get leads on Meetup. I haven't had time to implement yet, but I will start next week and let you know what happens. It was a good event and I did learn a few things I didn't know. Sometimes you learn just as much from the attendees as the speaker and I got a few great tips from the clients so I'm happy. One thing that might be something worth exploring is for you to set up a group on linked in and share tips and tricks there. Just a thought.

I am a regular attendee of Patrick's events and for the most part they are great and good value. As a practised user of LinkedIn, I felt this was at best entry level. Truth is you can find everything you need to know about Linkedin on Google or You Tube. As a provider to LinkedIn themselves, I was hoping to come away with a couple of gems...that didn't happen. I did get annoyed with the speaker for saying 'I am not going to give you any sales pitch or buy it tonight offer'...and then he did exactly that...what's that about??....total loss of credibility for me!

I disagree with some of the comments. Mike did deliver on generating leads. I've been using Linked-In for 8 years and yet had no idea of the power of 2nd degree connections and using them to help you with leads. Of course if you don't engage with your connections it might be a bit rude to ask them to introduce you to their niche contacts. Still. if you don't ask, the answer is ALWAYS no.

Putting price into context, a not particularly engaging tele-marketer wants to charge me £500 for 2 hours of telemarketing to my chosen niche.

For half that price, I can use [on an on-going basis], Mike's initial strategy plus I’m sure a half dozen others.

Given a crossed mix of abilities, yes there will be winners and losers in value gained. And with 15 minutes of productivity gains we would still only scratch the surface of Mike's knowledge.

I would challenge any expert in the group to deliver in their specialty a 90 minute talk that really gets to the moot points of their subject matter.

I agree with Ben , this was my first one and disappointed . Please ensure title stays upto the expectation .

The biggest false claim was the title of the event which indicates you would learn specific strategies how to increase sales using LinkedIn. The speaker just hinted towards these "strategies" and wanted to charge us 247£ in order to actually learn them!
If the event title was : "LinkedIn for beginners" that would have been true

I agree with some of the comments that the presentation was good but was geared towards LinkedIn beginners. For future events, it might be useful to specify the level of knowledge required/ how advanced the conversation will be (e.g. LinkedIn for Beginners, or LinkedIn for Advanced Users, etc.).

Thanks for the like Margaret; I also found useful the tip to find new client's to use the Advanced Search, then see who in your (having built a high quality..) network is connected to them, to call your network contacts on the phone, and ask them to email the desired new contact using email text you've supplied (the essence of the 'Magic Mail' approach). This is rather than using LinkedIn's 'Get_Introduced' functionality which is less effective.

Some good tips, I paid £5 to come (organization was good) but thought it would not have been worth the £17 late price fee for what was not much more than payment for a soft sell sales Q&A presentation with a few tips. You can buy the book for less and get the ebook for free if you goto their website and register for it. Thought the idea of answering questions as they came made for a very disjointed presentation. Wondered if we lost a good presentation flow because of this.

I’ve spotted a trend from last couple events that I’ve been to, and I’m not sure it can be fixed due to price, and that is; I get the feeling that the main interest of the guest speaker is to get people to sign up to their program, so because of that the information delivered is rudimentary and very basic, and I’m guessing if I subscribe to whatever they’re selling I’ll be completely blown away, as for myself I didn’t learn anything new last night except two things, could be that those in the audience really didn’t know what I would see as intuitive and there’s the market.

I feel exactly the same after last night's presentation and just posted my comment...

I think it was a great event for someone who hasn't really used LinkedIn much or at all. For anyone who's been using LinkedIn for a while, it was a good presentation but with VERY basic content. Mike was a very engaging speaker but he's talked about one very simple method of getting leads, I feel the title of the presentation was very misleading. There was no need to waste the first 10 minutes telling us why we should use LinkedIn - this is why everyone came to the event in the first place!

If I've learnt about some advanced functionality of LinkedIn I might not have been aware of, I might have been tempted to sign up for one of the courses to learn more, but sadly this isn't the case.

I have no problem with the speakers selling their courses or whatever at the end of the presentation, but I'd have wanted to see more specific advanced content, not just the basics.

Hey Patrick another slick production as always keep-up the good work, though I’m hoping to give some constructive feedback on this one.

Last night had all the hallmarks of a successful event, great venue great turn out, and a subject matter well worth investigating, but I have to say there is a down side and to be brutally honesty in the interest of giving good feedback so as to put on better and more challenging events.
