Rise of the Phoenix

Details
Hello Folks,
We'll meet this time at AOL's offices (http://www.aol.ie/contact/) and start the new year with some informative topics.
First, Máté will talk about ifs. One of the interesting bits about Erlang, and why you should transform your world to ditch ifs.
Erlang's built in mechanisms enables you to write more readable, testable code. Whether you're using guards, pattern matching in function arguments, or both, you can improve your business logic massively.
Máté Marjai is a regular to Ruby Ireland, and one of the starters of this meetup group. He hopes to show some tips and techniques from Erlang & functional programming that could be useful for anyone.

Then we'll hear Jose talking about Phoenix:
Productive. Reliable. Fast. That is the promise of Phoenix, an Elixir framework for building scalable web applications with real-time connectivity across all devices. In this talk I would like to give an overview of the framework, and why it really fullfils its promise.

I am a CI engineer by day, and an Elixir and Phoenix enthusiastic by night. I have been playing with Phoenix since I attended a course in Poland last Spring and I am actively collaborating with evercam.io (http://evercam.io/) , an Irish company that is developing a real world Phoenix Framework project.
Space, refreshments and food are kindly sponsored by Aol (http://aol.ie).
