The Ethics Of Happiness

Happiness is serotonin. A complex biochemical process creates it and degrades it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonin)

Too little serotonin and you can’t move, too much and you talk to god without your pants on.

It is neither a virtue or a vice, a reward or punishment. It is not spiritual, it’s just biology. How much you get is an accident of genetics.

That said, each person’s circumstances, how he lives, what he believes, what he does tremendously affects how much serotonin he can keep flowing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happiness
