A traditional Ukrainian Easter egg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_egg), a meditative way to create intricate patterns with layers of colors and meanings...
The Pysanky egg dying method is similar to batik - patterns are drawn on the egg with wax, which then protects the covered areas from the dye that is applied. By repeating this process with different colors of dye, a multi-colored pattern is built up. Finally, the wax is removed to reveal the colors that were covered up at each stage. Traditional Pysanky have symbols and colors which are rich in meaning.
Esty members feel free to use whatever symbols you desire at the Pysanky Party II Meetup. Bring your ideas or Yvonne will have ideas for you if you wish. All supplies and tools to borrow will be provided for including the eggs! Please note Pysanky dye will stain your clothes permanently and will wash off your hands in a few days. Disposable gloves will be available. Five members will be needed for this Meet-Up to happen, so please sign up!
Please bring snacks to share, Yvonne will provide drinks and soothing music!
