ExecTec - Leveraging Yourself
Details
We have often discussed the importance of connecting with others where they are and in the way that serves them best.
Let's face it if you know the man/woman who you need to reach most is active on some obscure or new and cutting edge social media tool you better brush up and do what the Roman's do (http://bit.ly/1QmMZue).
However the number two rule if not number one rule is to be who you are in a straightforward and organic way.
You can push yourself, you can conquer new markets and skills but you can't be something you are not and will never be.
When I manage or teach management (by the way I coach better management), I always focus on a person's strengths and not their weaknesses. Someone's weakness might or might not be improved upon but you will always get further focusing on strengths.
Applied to yourself you might feel you are introverted. While that might be true or something that a little time with my friends at Dale Carnegie or Toastmasters might fix, we can be sure of your strengths.
There is something that is truly all you. Something that makes you spark and when engaged is clear to others.
For one executive who closed an essential investment (http://bit.ly/218CpKj) via a networking event, it was his collection of orange shoes. While he had many other skills and qualities, his ability to pull off bright orange footwear was something for which he had a passion.
So while there are hundreds of way to try to game the systems and marginally edge out the other guy through brute force efforts, nothing works as well nor is natural as leveraging who you are.
If you think this is easier said then done, then this week's topic is certainly for you.
It is a question of perspective and even if you are comfortable in your skin leveraging you is not something that comes naturally to everyone.
• What is that one thing that you could talk about at length with no aid?
• What gets you worked up and sparking with ideas?
• Are you converting this thing into something that serves you?
Join us as we explore how to make the most of that spark that is unique and organic for each of us?
As always, there is no better way to meet and connect with other executives then over dinner and conversation. $21 in advance via PayPal or $25 at the event gets you a full dinner, drink and the best networking around.
