Exquisite Corpse: Surreal Collaborations

Collaborate with other artists and tap into the unconscious collective personality of a group by playing this classic surrealist parlor game.

The process is a collaboration between a small number of artists, each with little to no idea as to what has gone before, creating a (hopefully) single, unified and otherwise unique work that could not be created any other way. Graphic skills, while important, need not be a barrier to participation. Flexibility, creativity, humor, and openness are indispensible.

We will explore several mediums including written corpse, pencil or pen and ink drawing, collage art and digital corpsing even including an animated corpse called a zombie!

New players of all ages are always welcome!

That's a huge disappointment - really love your art, man. Can't blame you, though: San Francisco's about the best possible place to be! Any chance you'll contribute to a couple pieces before you go?

Just kidding about the food & booze (below), Jay, although, come to think of it...
I was really happy about seeing some very cool new people & the energy for our show. If it's going to work, however, I think we really need start working outside of the official monthly sessions. Maybe three or four of us who are going to be responsible for seeing things happen could get together between now and the next one? (I really want to see the venue as soon as the Lady of the Manor will let us, too.) I would really like to encourage everyone to take part in a conversation at the "Discussions" tab (above). Ideally, I think, brainstorming & planning would take place off-line and our monthly 2nd Thursday could be used to focus on the actual art.

Good energy, some excellent new people. I think Jay needs to start serving us food and booze, however.

Great energy and so many terrific ideas. I'm really excited to put this event together and to see what will come of these experiments as they evolve. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and input. Keep checking in to our discussion board as this grows over the summer.

Hi, since I'm new here, what is good to bring with me?

There are plenty of supplies in the studio so you don't need to bring anything but your creativity.
