I just destroyed one propeller, and it was a lot of fun doing it. I am planning on buying different colors to identify the front and the back of the quad. How important is to have all propellers with the same weight? I can't find props with different colors with the exact same specs(weight differs)

      Hi Andres,
You should have a gotten a few extras. Also, I'm not sure you picked up your charger. Come to the lab on Tuesday and I'll give you another pack if you haven't gotten one already.

I did get them, and also got the charger. I just want to buy a few extras to have them as spare

I found propellers for the quadcopter on Amazon and on Ebay. Look for GEMFAN 9 X 4.7.

In anticipation that a propeller or two will be broken before long, does anyone have a part number and a source for purchasing spare props for the unit we built in the recent drone class?

I've updated the build document with a lot of the build steps that were previously missing. You'll see a link on page 3. But I'll add it here as well. http://www.goodluckbu...

Great job putting the whole show together and orchestrating the class efforts. The kit was a good choice, too. Thanks, Chance

Many thanks to Chance and Gabe. I'm looking forward to getting my new beasty up into the air. I would suggest that the next workshop like this probably requires more time.

With the STEAM Family Day event starting at 11:00, I'm going to park across the street and avoid the traffic insanity in Balboa Park proper.

I've been extremely busy with the Kickstarter project I've been running. That combined with ordering the parts and making sure everything goes off without a hitch.

    Here are the general specs...
    Frame: 450 (DJI clone)
    Flight Controller: Crius AIO 1.1
    GPS: uBlox 6M
    TX/RX: Turnigy 9X
    Battery: Turnigy 3S Lipo 3300mAh

Also, I've added some extras like extended landing gear.

I've put an enormous amount of time and energy making the arrangements for this.

Many of these systems are rebranded. According to posts on rcgroups.com, Flysky is the OEM and Turnigy is a rebrand. Flyskys are black, and Turnigys are gray; the internals are the same.

Question: What type of xmitter unit, how many channels? What motors, and what payload? Can this carry a GoPro3?

    February 28, 2014

    • Robin F.

A GoPro weighs about 200g, so you should have no trouble mounting it on a FlameWheel, though I've never done it myself.

    • Robin F.

The transmitter looks like a Turnigy 9-channel or a knockoff, and the price point is about right (http://www.hobbyking....).
