BIRDS IN FLIGHT WITH ROB PALMER

Learn to use your camera to optimize your chances at acquiring excellent photos of Birds in Flight from Rob Palmer.
We will be photographing two and possibly more large species of birds, the great blue heron and the double crested cormorant from the gazebo on the east side of the lake.
Rob Palmer is a full time resident wildlife photographer and has won numerous awards for his photos of birds in flight including the photos displayed below.
Knowledge Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Learning Objectives:
• You will learn what are the optimum settings for birds in flight and why.
• Panning technique with or without a tripod.
• Recommendations for types of cameras and lenses that are best suited for birds in flight.
Equipment needed: You will need to bring a camera (preferably a DSLR, a 300 mm lens or larger (smaller lenses can be used but may require significant post capture processing).
Physical Requirements: Mild to Moderate - you'll need to carry your gear from the parking lot to the gazebo, likely less than a quarter mile of walking, several hours of standing
