I recently acquired an Axial Wraith radio controlled crawler and I have been having a blast with it. This made me wonder whether or not anyone else in the Fairfield County area might be interested in R/C off-road trucks and crawlers.
These are radio controlled models (typically 1:10 scale) that are outfitted with big batteries, shocks, and knobby tires that allow them to crawl over rocks, roots, stumps, mud, etc. They are called crawlers because they aren't built for speed, but for power... though they can sprint when necessary. Believe it or not, they make great hiking companions, as they can easily navigate any typical hiking trail. When I go hiking I like to do more than just walk in the woods. Now I can "trail bash" along the way, which is great fun.
I'm also interested in R/C aircraft, though I haven't flown my models for about 10 years... only due to extremely limited flying locations in this congested area of the country. I used to fly with the New Canaan R/C Society at Waveny Park.
This group could be for any kind of R/C interest, but my current goal would be to get R/C off-roaders together in order to expand my knowledge of the hobby. I'm just going to throw this out there and see what happens.
