Fairlawn Toastmasters began in 1966 as a group of people interested in personal achievement, professional advancement, social engagement, and a great evening out! Our parent organization, Toastmasters International, started in 1924.
Fairlawn Toastmasters has been around for almost 50 years and our meetings have between 15 and 20 attendees. Since the club is older than Meetup, most members simply attend without RSVPing here. Regardless of the Meetup guest list, our meetings are always full of people and energy. The group offers two tracks-leadership and communication. Both are complimentary to each other and progress on both at one time is typical and very rewarding. Similar to a corporate job, but without the annoying 40 hours work week (or the paycheck as we are all volunteers), Toastmasters is a great resume builder!
Have you ever told a vacation story to someone and realized that their eyes were glazing over? Have you ever been asked to "Say a few words...." and froze up? Have you ever been asked to head a group of people at work or in a club and ducked out of it because you weren't comfortable with a leadership role? We can help with that! Our club is self-paced so no one will rush you. We are supportive, providing a safe environment in which to learn and grow new skills. Everyone sincerely wants to see you succeed!
We met some new people!
Thank you very much for the link. That site seems very useful and i will definitely be checking out some local Toastmasters Clubs. I do travel down towards that area sometimes and i may move out that way eventually so i'm just looking at my options. A good community is worth the drive.
Hey, Julie! Tell me more about your community activities. I got into TM so that I could meet local people after moving here a few years ago. Anything I can help with?
Hello, I have worked on many political campaigns and am a PC in Fairlawn 5A. I also am starting to volunteer at the Summit County Humane Society this month. I currently work for a national non-profit called StudentsFirst. StudentsFirst is a movement to transform public education http://www.studentsfirst.org/state/oh...
