This meetup is for families to explore the world of board and card games with other families in a friendly environment!

Come & Meet

Come over with your family and friends. Bring your own games along, if you wish.

We offer two kinds of meetups:

• Family game meetups

These are events for families with children to enjoy playing together.

• Parents Game Meetups

These have the goal to learn a specific game in a smaller group to be able to teach it your kids afterwards. Relatives and future volunteers are welcome too.

Play & Have Fun

Explore the fantasy world of the games. No struggle with rules. You will receive an introduction to each game.

You can choose from the large Game Library of the German American San Diego Foundation with more than 100 games, donated from the non-profit Spiel des Jahres, a recognized award in Germany, and from many game companies, for instance local Wiggity Bang Games.

The games are German style-games/ European games, and many others as well, covering ages 4 to 13 and up, and can often be played with different ages together.

A German-style board game is a tabletop game that generally have simple rules, short to medium playing times, indirect player interaction, and abstract physical components. Such games emphasize strategy, combined with luck and conflict, and usually keep all the players in the game until it ends. German-style games tend to have a theme, can be learned easily and played in a relatively short time, perhaps multiple times in a single session. German-style games are usually multi-player, well suited to social play.
