DATE CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER:

100% chance of heavy rain in the morning with wind gusts up to 25 mph has deterred our ability to photograph outside during the Bald Eagle Festival.

We will go on our own on Sunday morning, first to Blackwater NWR, then Cambridge around midday for the best light for photographing the ducks at the "wall of shame."

Plan for a windy day - tripods for your telephotos, wind jackets and fleece.

We will meet at the Bay 50 parking lot at 7:30am and leave promptly at 7:45 a.m. and head straight to Blackwater NWR. We should arrive there by 9:00am. A quick stop at the Visitor center for facilities and off to the wildlife loop.

Please let me know if you prefer to drive out to Blackwater on your own, or if you'll meet at Bay 50 to carpool.

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful and easily accessible area for wintering ducks, snow geese, and perhaps even white pelicans.

The refuge offers a wonderful Bald Eagle Festival, with live captive raptors on display and tours along the wildlife loop.

An early start will begin with a stop at "The Wall of Shame" at Cambridge where ducks abound swim close to the rip rap and foray for duck food when given.

We will then head to Blackwater at the start of the festival and enjoy the headquarters for a couple of hours before driving the wildlife loop in search of bald eagles and more.

15th Annual Eagle Festival: 9am - 4pm. Live eagle, peregrine falcon and other birds of prey programs, kid’s programs and archery range, kid’s blue bird box construction, puppet shows, eagle prowls, Wildlife Drive tours, wildlife exhibits, live bird exhibits, and food all day. No Entrance Fee.

DEPARTURE FROM:

BAY 50 Shopping Center, 1598 Whitehall Road, Annapolis, Maryland.

DEPARTURE TIME: 7:00 a.m. A carpool fee of $10.00 for the driver is requested.
