First Thursday Book Club Meetup

We meet in a relaxed informal environment to discuss two books/novels that have been read during the month prior to the meeting. Attendees have the opportunity to give their opinions, views and ideas and to listen to those others.

Now, judging by the time of her posting, I know how Bernadette finishes more of the reading than me, while completing several degrees - she doesn't sleep. Good idea to have a very big and small book as a match. My suggestions for the next combination are Gwyneth Paltrow's books of dumb and profound sayings.

I got home went to bed at 9.30pm but woke up at 1am looked at my internet then read for a few hours. I am about half way through the bali conspiracy most foul and enjoying it. I had a hard week at work with emotions flying between my mother and I. Problem of working for family. So my comments to Joe on waking up with anxiety is probably acurate from experience.

Worked for my dad at one time so know what it is like. Glad you liked Bali conspiracy. My favourite Inspector Singh is the one set in Cambodia - although not read the Chinese one yet.

Great combination of books for discussion is just the start, good company and diverse views add to the enjoyment. With two of our members about to publish there were plenty to celebrate last night.

Only those present were witness to the selection of wines shared between friends. Imagine that, books, food, wine and good company – sounds like something to look forward to each month.

For those who wish to keep the conversation going there is our @Cafe event on Saturday. A good long weekend to you all.

Thank you Bernadette and everyone for the raucous night, chock-full of fun and great insight. I am thoroughly anticipating the next one, in particular because our two reads (The Painted Bird and The Light Betweem Oceans) are likely to stir some powerful reactions!

I enjoyed the company and the discussion. Two interesting books which were both out of what I normally read. Good too see everyone again. Thank you Hazel and Joe for organising this fabulous meetup.
