First Thursday Book Club Meetup

Published author Lynne Stringer will be adding her own touch of excitment to our final, festive season meeting for the year.

Lynne will be telling us all about her Sci-Fi Romance writing, her latest YA novel The Heir (the first in a trilogy) and letting us in on the secrets to a successful manuscript that attracts a publisher.

    It was interesting talking to an author and her ideas on marketing and publishing a book. I think there is a resounding message that it is difficult to publish a book but that is only te beginning then marketing and making any money appears an uphill battle as well.

    I have been reading the young adult book by Lynne Stringer called the Heir Verindon 1 which I borrowed from the library. It has been a while since I read a young adult book they are written in a different style.

    The book by William McInnes and Sarah Watts the chapters are all self contained so they do not need to be read in order. The order is chronological but it is not necessary to read them that way. If you are finding the book a bit hard to get into try reading some of Sarah Watts chapters which give her perspective on life which I found interesting. She died of cancer 6 months after the book was published which was very sad. She was a good Australian Film Director and produced Look both ways which was set in South Australia over a weekend and My Year without Sex. Both art house films and Australian which I like
