Re-zoning Proposal (Lake Seminole Community Farm)
Hosted by Earth First
Details
The Board of County Commissioners’ public hearing on the urban farm (Lake Seminole Community Farm) zoning amendment proposal is scheduled for 6:30 PM on April 20 at the County Courthouse (5th Floor at 315 Court Street in Clearwater). The proposal is to re-zone 12.5 acres within Lake Seminole Park across the street from Osceola Middle School from A-E (Agricultural Estate Residential) to FBR (Facility-Based Recreation) to accommodate an urban community farm. The subject area is the location of the now defunct County landscaping nursery operation. The site was selected because of its historic horticultural use and the fact that much of the necessary infrastructure is already in place. It is proposed that the Farm will be operated by a non-profit agency (the Florida West Coast RC&D Council) that is experienced with such endeavors. Staff is recommending approval of this proposal. As always, public participation is welcome and encouraged at the hearing.
I apologize for the short notice.
Albert
