WHAT: The Engine 2 Challenge is a four-week program affiliated with the Health Starts Here™ program at Whole Foods Market Tampa to help customers kick-start a healthy eating lifestyle. The program is based on Rip Esselstyn’s nationally best-selling book, The Engine 2 Diet — a practical guide for eating PlantStrong. A former firefighter and professional triathlete, Rip is well known for convincing the meat-eating firefighters at Engine 2 in Austin to go on a plant-based diet to save their own lives. Several were overweight with dangerously high cholesterol levels. Though the Texans loved their barbeque and steaks — they also loved the idea of a longer, healthier life and went for it. Their amazing results formed the genesis of a pilot study, followed by The Engine 2 Diet book that now guides people around the world in eating Plant-Strong.
WHY: By signing up to participate in an Engine 2 Challenge, you will join a group of people that come together for weekly support from the Tampa Whole Foods Market Healthy Eating Specialist Curtis Whitwam. Through the Engine 2 Diet book and educational tools provided by the Healthy Eating Specialist, participants will gain delicious, heart-healthy recipes, learn new ways of cooking and how to read labels, and gain support in kicking off a new, Plant-Strong lifestyle.
