Florida Voices for Animals Message Board › COURT UPDATE on BAYLEE & MISS. TERRIER!
I met with the prosecuting attorney, we won't get the max, because this particular Judge will lien more towards the defendant in this case:( Why????? You got it, because it's a dog and not a human (makes my blood boil). They will not bring up his past history:( Why??? Again because it's a dog. If we were to go to trial, Lyons would probably only get about 4 years and 7 months probation out of the max of 15 years, with this Judge. What was put on the table and the defendant accepted is 8 years in prison, 9 years probation and restitution to my previous tenant, also he will never be able to live in the home 2 doors down from my rental. The sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7th at 1:30pm. Lyons will go straight to prison from the courthouse.
This is a victory, just knowing he will never hurt another animal or child again! I am so glad my tenant decided to call and tell me what happened, as he debated weather or not to tell me, because he had called the police and they did nothing. They did not come out nor did they even make a report. What was I going to do from GA he thought. If he would not have called me, Lyons would being God knows what!
I am so glad I remembered Mr. lightsey, who was a Sgt. when I knew him (20 years ago) and then became Sheriff and now a Private Investigator. I looked him up on-line, called him and he remembered me, as he was good friends with my Dad. He is the one that got the ball rolling, he told my tenant to go to the Sheriff's Department and demand an investigation. That is how we found out about Lyons and his history.
This battle may have been won, but I have much more to do! The registries for predators are useless, because they are not registering where they are really living, giving people a false sense of security in their communities. In my case, my tenant had an GPS app on his phone connected to the registry and here he had been living 2 doors down for seven months and never knew, until he was caught. It's not just in FL. it's in every state!
Law Enforcement need to be educated on what to do in these situations, not just ignore! I am going to do all I can to help the Chandler Edwards Organization! They go from State to State, City to City upon request, educating Law Enforcement on what to do when they receive a call about bestiality. They also collect information on bestiality cases all over the U.S. and have been doing this for 10+ years. If anyone hears of any cases please email me the story at email@example.com or to the Chandler Edwards Organization, their web address is http://www.chandlered... , please look at their site, what they are doing to help our animals is priceless!!!!!!
Thanks to all you supporters!!!!! I am so, so grateful, if you look up the word grateful in the dictionary, you will see my picture!
