Community Park Picnic and Mapping Party
Details
The Tower Hamlets Cemetary Park is now a beautiful nature reserve run by a group of volunteers: http://www.fothcp.org/ It's small community centre hosts STEM Ambassador sessions for local schools.
We're going to help map the Park with a guided tour of its monuments and features by the Park Community and have a fun picnic in this sleepy, unexpected wilderness in the heart of East London.
Please bring picnic food for yourself and/or to share.
Bring a mifi dongle or hub if you have one - wifi is only available in the small community centre itself. There will be cover if it rains.
What is a mapping party?
A mapping party is an informal gathering for people interesting in discussing, learning about and collaboratively editing open mapping tools such as OpenStreetMap. You can read more about mapping parties at:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapping_parties
This first Flossie MeetUp event is a chance to spend a fun and sunny afternoon (we hope!) in this tucked-away park full of wild spaces getting to know the tools from an experienced mapper.
